Mastering Inversions from Return to Life

Our Teaching Philosophy:

In this workshop Alison and Julie combine their decades of teaching practice to bring you the how and the why behind each of the inversion exercises included in “Return to Life”

Our aim is to give you the skills to see how these exercises builds upon the previous exercise and connects forward to the next.

We take logical movement progressions, beginning from “Pre-Pilates” exercises that will deepen your clients understanding of their movement and how to move confidence to begin executing the inversion exercises.

By breaking down every inversion into manageable building blocks you’ll have the tools to find that vital “entry” point for your client into the exercises.

Our aim is for you to:

  • To deepen your understanding of inversions:

  • How to redistribute your body weight as you roll

  • How to control the roll so you roll onto the back of the thoracic spine

  • How to control the return of the roll and how to come out of the inversion with precision and control.

This workshop provides you with:

  • Clear teaching progressions you can use immediately

  • Greater confidence teaching advanced repertoire

  • New cueing techniques and tactile strategies

  • Creative ways to adapt exercises for different clients

  • A deeper understanding of how the Pilates repertoire fits together

What’s included:

  • Real-time demonstrations, progressions, and adaptations for various bodies

  • Fun, creative use of props to enhance learning

  • Candid discussion of what *really* happens in classes: common pitfalls, relatable struggles, and ways to really “feel” advanced exercises

  • A blend of classical AND contemporary approach.

This workshop is perfect for:

  • Pilates teachers wanting to confidently teach advanced matwork, deepen their teaching toolkit,

  • Teachers to gain confidence in cueing, spotting, and progressing clients

  • Teacher trainers

  • Newly qualified instructors looking to develop their skills

  • Experienced teachers wanting fresh ideas, progressions and cueing

  • Pilates enthusiasts wanting to deepen their own practice

“By the end you’ll be confident not only to teach it, but actually confident to do the exercises yourself.”

Alison Salmond
